Photo Notes — Balance & Weight

Balance and weight determine how a photograph holds itself together. Every element carries a visual mass — a bright area, a dark form, a strong line — and composition is the act of distributing that mass so the image feels stable, even when it’s asymmetrical. Balance isn’t about symmetry; it’s about tension that settles just enough to feel right. When the visual weight of one side quietly answers the other, the photograph stands on its own.
